"I sort of spotted him out there on the field before I ran out, I located him and thought, 'that's my end point,'" said Melissa on the radio show "Breakfasters Best Bit," on RRR FM. Helen D'Amico may not have succeed in kissing her end point, but she didn't have the advantage of her end point being her boyfriend.
"I guess the start point was the year before, it was my first community cup and Rauri was telling me that no female had ever streaked before... I actually said to him at the time, Oh I'll do it baby. And it was pretty cold and everything and we had a laugh, I think that's when the seed was planted."
At the game her mind rabled, "I thought if he can get out there and play footy (it was his first time) then I can do the spot I also had just had a car accident before going to the game so I was abit shaken up, and I had my kids with me as well, there were plenty of excuses not to do it. I'm sitting in the grand stand, I'm not gonna do it, I'm sitting next to my daughter, she's 14, My friend had just left, she was a bit bored I think and she'd gone. I couldn't admit it tio myself, let alone anyone else so I was sitting there thinking, well the game is getting a little bit boring, and then I thought, actually I thought the fourth quarter, I thought if Rauri comes out I'll do it. And everyone had come out all the players had run out and I thought 'Oh what a relief, he's not playing,' and the next minute I just see his number coming slowly out onto the field and it was this moment like, 'I have to do this now. I'm going to feel so bad if I don't.'
"The first thing I did is I have plats in my hair and I started undoing them, it was like this slow strip, I said to... My daughter, 'I'm going to the toiliets.' I still hadn't admitted to myself I was going to do it, and I got to the toilets where the little cafe is, and I went in there like there were two parts of ny brain, one side was like, 'what the hell are you doing' and the other side was so focused, 'just do it,' and I checked out the point I was gonna run from cause I didn't want to straddle the fence naked, let's face it that wasn't gonna be a good move, so I took the point, the point I knew I had to get to. So I took evetything off, rolled it into a little ball. (nobody saw) just had a t-shirt and a little skirt on, walked out got to the point and just looked out onto the firled and just counted down 3. 2. 1. and then ripped it off and started running and at that point I had to say it was one of the highlights of my life, the energy from the crowd like 20,000 people, just hear this roar, I recommend it highly its just like the energy just lifts you up and you start running out there and everyone cheering for you. Time stood still."
