Polish Protest Streak

Karen Jackson on her web site streakerama wrote, "Without doubt the Olympic streak is the holy grail of all sporting streaks. The amount of security that must be bypassed is directly proportional to the size of the audience. The streaker must take care not to be mistaken for a terrorist, or risk being blown into a thousand pieces by the US bodyguards who are all bringing their own guns to the (The Sydney Games in 2000.)" ... Luckily, streakers aren't drug tested, so steroids may come in handy at that point."

Justine, a 20-year-old porn starlet took that challenge. She interupted the closing ceremonies holding an Italian flag bearing the handwritten inscription "Mi consenta", and had a drawing by a Roman artist, Ettore Wallemberg III, on her skin. Security officials stopped her. She was protesting against Silvio Berlusconi, an Italian politician, entrepreneur, and media proprietor. Why she was protesting him I don't know. I don't care what the protest is, so long as it inspires in some girls strong enough feelings to get naked in public.

Jackson continues, "The event and the venue are also a matter of interest. Streaking at the synchronised swimming will be much welcomed as a respite from fake smiles and glitter, whereas streaking at the beach volleyball will be barely noticed, if, indeed, the streaker is not mistaken for a participant in uniform. Streaking at the shooting is not recommended, as Olympic shooters are often unable to resist a moving target. Handball is tempting, if only because of the lure of the double innuendo, while gymnastics is legally risky, as one is exposing oneself in front of minors. Besides, a nude pommel horse routine is not a good look."

When someone goes to all the trouble to hold an event. I can understand there anger that someone would disrupt it to make a statement. Jackson, critical of the smalzy pomp, and overblown spectacle of the opening ceremonies, particularly the fact that tax money was used to finance it, thought that streaking was an appropriate way to protest. "What would really impress would be legions of streakers, possibly choreographed, at the most smarmy and embarrassing part of the ceremony. One can only hope." She justifiably thought that the opening ceremony was the appropriate event to streak, "It will need it. It all could do with a shot of pure, spontaneous abandon." The closing ceremony isn't much better, and that is the one that Justine chose. Alas, TV audiences, due to quick camera changes, didn't see it. Or at least did not know to look closely enough when there was a short delay. I saw a video on the web where you could see the comtion, only if you knew where to look.
